JAX Is Jaguar Proud

Jags vs. Bills – AFC Wild Card Round

We want to thank our home team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, for an amazing season! We proudly supported you all the way and you gave us some unforgettable moments!

More than 50 JAX Refrigeration clients, employees and their families got to see the Jags defeat the Buffalo Bills, 10-3, in the AFC Wild Card Round from the cabana at Everbank Field.

Jags vs. Steelers – AFC Divisional Round

Fridgie, along with several JAX clients and employees, got ready to turn up the heat at Heinz Stadium from their first-row seats behind the Jags bench.

Right after the win, Sacksonville defensive end, Yannick Ngakoue, gifted Mark’s son, Luke, with his game-winning gloves…priceless. The video footage even made the local news, shared by First Coast News anchor Heather Crawford.

Jags vs. Patriots – AFC Championship Round

In the true spirit of #allthewayJags, JAX employees and their families went the distance to support the Jags at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. We are so proud of our dream team. Congrats, Jaguars on a fantastic season and we look forward to the next one!

EPA, DOE HVAC Regulations Changes For 2018

One of the biggest HVAC happenings in 2018 is already upon us with new EPA and DOE regulations concerning refrigerants. The new regulations are a result of the U.S. EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) program. JAX Refrigeration clients can rest assured that JAX has been preparing for the regulatory changes since 2016, in anticipation of new EPA and DOE rules.

According to JAX Mechanical Service Manager, Mark Rassano, “The DOE HVAC directives also include parameters set for refrigerant use in the U.S. that relate to HVAC certification. Industry use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) was phased out in 2017 due to dangerous carbon emissions. The DOE also limited ozone-depleting substance (ODS) purchase allowance to certified reclaimers or technicians. ODS limited use included hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and now HFCs.”

The bottom line? JAX Refrigeration has completed its phasing out use of R22 and now exclusively uses R-427A.

“It’s a direct drop in and is more environmentally friendly,” said Rassano.

If you are interested in learning more about the DOE regulation changes and their impact on your business, please give us a call at 904-249-1400.

Christmas Dreamer Shares Holiday Cheer With JAX Friends

Meet a very special 12-year-old, Alicia, along with her brothers, John and Christian; and sisters, Sarah and Chloe. They were the highlight of JAX’s annual holiday party, thanks to Dreams Come True’s Christmas Adoptee Program. Alicia has been diagnosed with Arnold Chiari malformation. She hasn’t yet decided on her dream, but the employees at JAX were thrilled to help make some of Alicia’s other holiday dreams come true this year. Here are some of our favorite moments from that cheery night.

Through the Grapevine

You’ve probably already heard about how much we believe in our JAX Family – in the quality of our people, their values and hard work that help make our company great. But you don’t have to take our word for it, so check in here for the latest on what people are saying about us.

This month’s testimonial comes from Andrea Siracusa, Senior Manager of Programs and Community Relations at Dreams Come True, one of JAXCares’ annual charitable recipients. She wanted to send a special thank you to everyone at JAX Refrigeration for coming on board to bring hope and joy to a special family during the 2017 holiday season.

Fridgie Hit the Ice With the Icemen in December

T’was the week before Christmas,
when all through the Veterans Arena,
hockey fans with Fridgies
eagerly eyed the rink’s icy patina.
Then, the first goal of the game,
to the crowds’ delight,
signaled the tossing of toys
to make it one very good night!

JAXCares was honored to team up with the Jacksonville Icemen on December 16, 2017, for their Teddy Bear Toss against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. JAX handed out 200 Fridgies to attendees as part of the festivities.

During the evening, 6,000 excited fans tossed stuffed toys and Fridgies on to the ice to celebrate the Icemen’s first goal of the game. In total, over 3,000 stuffed toys were collected and donated to the Jacksonville Toys for Tots Foundation for local children in need – just in time for the holidays.

JAX Mechanical Scores as Official “Keeper of the Ice”

JAX Mechanical is proud to be the sole provider of ice rink maintenance for Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, home of the ECHL hockey league’s Jacksonville Icemen. That includes upkeep on its 2- 40 ton Cimco chillers. JAX is responsible for the maintenance on the chillers and pumps once the ice is groomed and playable, as well as the day-to-day operations of the equipment. We perform an intensive monthly preventive maintenance inspection to ensure our Icemen always have good, playable ice.

Did you know?: The rink ice never melts. When other events are happening at the Veteran’s Arena, a hard floor is placed on top of the ice. The ice is there 24/7 throughout the hockey season.

JAX’s Sports Fanatics

If you’re a JAX client and interested in attending an upcoming sporting event, please drop us a line and let us treat you to a day at the field or on the ice!

A special shout out to Danis Director of Special Projects, Buck Smoak. As you can see from their smiles, the Smoak family enjoyed a night out, watching the Jacksonville Icemen take on Atlanta as a special VIP guest of JAX.

JAX Cool Vice President, Andy Lueck’s kids also had a great time cheering on the playoff-bound Jacksonville Jaguars at a recent home game.
