La Nopalera: La Nopalera – Jacksonville, FL
La Nopalera – Jacksonville, FL
In 2016, JAX Refrigeration was subcontracted by Ashco, Inc. to provide the heating, ventilation and HVAC systems for the latest Jacksonville-area branch of the Mexican restaurant chain, La Nopalera. After the original subcontractor backed out, JAX Refrigeration was able to seamlessly step in and complete 100 percent of the HVAC installation for the walk-in cooler and building over a period of roughly two months. JAX Refrigeration installed four 10-ton air handling units, four 10-ton air condensing units, refrigeration piping, two exhaust fans for the restrooms, a 16' kitchen hood and make-up air unit (MAU).
The La Nopalera contract was one of the company's most significant because of buildings’ importance in the community. The project was located in the historical area of San Marco, with the entirety of the restaurant’s 3,387 square feet contained within the old San Marco train station, a historically-registered building.
JAX Refrigeration was able to reverse engineer the complex and unique system to not only fit the constraints of the existing building, but to honor its historical value by developing creative solutions to bracing, ductwork and permitting obstacles. JAX Refrigeration ensured the project's success by being on call 24/7 to address all issues and questions from other trades working on the project, making immediate adjustments as needed to accommodate crews involved in this landmark project.
